As mobile network operators (MNOs) plan how to increase the capacity and density of their RAN networks to support 5G applications, they are examining the merits of C-RAN architectures. MNOs also need to support applications closer to end users. They are evaluating how best to create their own data center environments. This application note examines these changes and their implications for IP transport networks. It describes how the Nokia IP Anyhaul solution meets new mobile transport requirements with the flexibility needed to deliver on the promises of 5G.
