0.8 Bit/s/Hz Spectral Efficiency at 10Gb/s via Vesitigial-sideband Filtering

We demonstrate the first 10Gb/s DWDM transmission at 12.5GHz spacing without polarization division multiplexing or polarization interleaving. This dense channel spacing is accomplished via vesitigial sideband filtering. We show the system is suitable for metropolitan networks by transmitting 8x10Gb/s over 200km of SMF-28.
