1 kVA Uninterruptible Power Supply: A Snappy Design
This paper presents the use and benefits of Design for Assemby (DFA) and computer simulation techniques in the design process of a new 1 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The UPS features a "snap-together" assembly employing a simple symmetric, two-piece chassis, a load-bearing structural foam shelf, and a blow-molded front cover. Printed wiring boards incorporate a high degree of machine insertability and a unique snap-in heat sink mounting scheme.
