10-Mode Mode-Multiplexed Transmission with Inline Amplifier

We demonstrate combined wavelength- and mode-multiplexed transmission over a fiber with 10 spatial modes using all multimode components including an Erbium doped amplifier, acousto-optics switches and splitters. We achieved a spectral efficiency of 29 b/s/Hz and a maximum capacity of 115.2 Tb/s for a distance of 86 km and tested the components in a multimode loop arrangement.
