15000 km Fiber Optic Transmission Using a Linear Repeater.
01 January 1987
Optical pulse propagation over more than 15000 km was achieved using a reentrant 75 km fiber loop and a non-generative repeater to balance the optical losses. At 150 Mbit/s data-rate, the fiber to fiber gain of the repeater was 37 dB, and the insertion penalty less than 0.3 dB.
