1.6Tbit/s (40 x 40 Gbit/s) total capacity four-node optical networking using fully programmable A/D devices

A four-node dynamically reconfigurable optical network, using integrated add/drop devices, is demonstrated. Aggregate capacity or 1.6Tbit/s (40 x 40Gbit/s), spectral efficiency of 0.4bit/s/Hz, Q values > 18dB and wide tolerance to wavelength misalignment are key results.
