1700 km Transmission at 40 Gb/s with 100 km Amplifier-Spacing Enabled by Higher-Order-Mode Dispersion-Compensation
01 January 2001
We report a record transmission distance of 1700 km of non- zero dispersion fiber with 100 km amplifier spacing at a data rate of 40 Gb/s. The demonstration is enabled by an all-fiber higher-order-mode dispersion-compensating module that features a high effective area and low insertion loss.
