Traditionally X.75 has been "the protocol" used on the interfaces linking packet networks providing services based on the CCITT Recommendation X.25. The increasing popularity of packet switching networks including Telecommunication Management Networks (TMNs) creates a strong need for interworking among them. With the latest improvements, X.75 becomes an ideal candidate to facilitate this interworking. New utilities such as Tariffs and Network User Identification (NUI) allow networks to exchange information needed to perform accounting, billing, security and other network management functions.
