1Tb/s Transmission over 20km of FMF Fiber with Wavelength and Mode Group Multiplexing and Direct Detection

We demonstrate 1Tb/s bidirectional transmission over 20km of FMF fiber using selective excitation of 4 mode groups, WDM multiplexing and direct detection. 4 wavelengths per mode group are used. 88Gs/s digital to analog converter (DAC) is used to drive an external lithium niobate Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM).
