32 bit/s/Hz Spectral Efficiency Transmission over Few-Mode Fiber

We demonstrate a record spectral efficiency per fiber core of 32 bit/s/Hz over 59 km of few-mode fiber supporting 6 spatial modes.We transmitted 12 space and polarization modes each carrying 32WDM20-Gbaud 16 QAM channels on a 25 GHz grid. The transmitted signal are recovered using 12 x 12 multiple-input multiple-output digital signal processing.
