A successful, error-free 1 Tbit/s (40 Gbit/s×25 ch) WDM transmission experiment over 342 km of nonzero dispersion (TrueWave) fibre is described in which a 40 Gbit/s optical time-division-multiplexing (OTDM) transmitter, 3R receiver, and gain-flattened, conventional Er-doped fibre amplifiers are used.
