40Gbit/s x 25 ch (1Tbit/s aggregate capacity) WDM transmission over 342 km of fibre
15 April 1999
A successful, error-free 1Tbit/s (40Gbit/s x 25ch) WDM transmission experiment over 342km of nonzero dispersion (TrueWave) fibre is described in which a 40Gbit/s optical time-division-multiplexing (OTDM) transmitter, 3R receiver, and gain-flattened, conventional Er-doped fibre amplifiers are used. Fibre chromatic dispersion was effectively compensated for using negative-slope dispersion compensating fibre.
