600 Mb/s Two-Channel FDMA/FSK Star Network Using Two-Electrode DFB Lasers and a Fiber Optical Filter Demultiplexer

We demonstrate a two-channel FDMA-FSK star network using frequency- tunable two-electrode DFB lasers. The FSK signal is converted to ASK format by a fiber Fabry-Perot optical filter demodulator/demultiplexer for noncoherent detection. Bit-error-rates of 10 sup -13 have been measured at 600 Mb/s transmission rate for (2 sup 23 -1) word lengths.
