64-Gb/s Optical Transmission Using DFB EAM Transmitter and SOA PIN TIA Receiver with -23.5 dBm Record Sensitivity
31 March 2016
This paper reports a complete transmission system for next generation high speed optical communication systems networks for short reach applications such as access networks and data center interconnects. It consists of a 63 GHz DFB-EAM transmitter and a SOA-PIN-TIA receiver with -23.5 dBm sensitivity at a bit error rate (BER) of 10-9 at 64 Gb/s in non-return-to-zero (NRZ) on-off-keying (OOK) operation. The system yields less than 0.5 dB penalty over 2 km transmission.
