New Image

A Monolithic CMOS circuit which can amplify, slice and recover clock from a 16 Mb/s differential Manchester input has been built. When used with a companion digital controller/driver chip, a complete 16 Mb/s IEEE 802.5 - 1988 standard compatible token ring transceiver is realized. This circuit, implemented in a 1.75micron CMOS process, occupies 12mm sup 2 of silicon and dissipates 300mW from a 5V supply.
