A Cold-Start 1.5 microns FSK Heterodyne Detection Experiment

We report a 1.5-microns FSK heterodyne detection system which can initiate communication without any manual adjustment to synchronize the frequencies of transmitter and local oscillator lasers. This system utilizes 40 MHz linewidth DFB lasers frequency-locked to Krypton 2p sub 10 - 3d sub 3 transition at 1.5339 microns using optogalvanic effect.
