A colourless wavelength add or drop module with ultra-low power consumption

Abstract—We report on a novel design for a colourless wavelength adding and dropping module. The module comprises a cyclic demultiplexer and an optical cross-connect and greatly reduces the insertion loss of this functionality in comparison to other approaches. Implementation of ultra low power consumption thermo-optic switches simplifies the module thermal control.
