A Distributed Signal Processing Strategy for UL CoMP
14 March 2012
Coordinated multipoint (CoMP) Tx/Rx has been widely considered and discussed to address the issues of inter-cell Interference in cellular network. For uplink, to increase the throughput of UE at the cell edge and enhance network throughput, the signal from UE could be received at multiple BS that are geographically distributed. To tackle the complexity of central signal processing, a distributed signal processing approach, which have close performance with low complexity, is poposed in the paper. That is, each points within the UE CoMP cluster pre-process the received signal, then the processed signal is transferred to desired serving point via backhaul link to carry out multiple point combining. System level performance has been assessed to justify the effectiveness of the distributed processing approach relative to the central processing. Furthermore, the backhaul bandwidth and latency requirements are analysed accordingly for practical implem- entation concern.
