A Free Optical Interconnect-Module-Preliminary Results

We describe a specific design of a free space optical interconnect module capable of supporting 36 two rail optical input pads and 36 two rail optical output pads. The module is a proof by demonstration that free space optical interconnect systems need not be bulky, unstable, unreliable monstrosities. Rather, by appropriate design, free space optics can provide a practical and effective interconnect capability.
