A Guided Tour of Computer Vision.
31 July 1989
If our long-sought quest to create autonomous anthropomorphic automata is to succeed, we must first impart human perceptual capabilities to machines. This is a tutorial on the automation of visual perception. While the emphasis is on fundamental concepts within a coherent framework, it is also aimed to provide details and pointers, especially to recent developments. The topics reviewed include image formation, edge detection, line- drawing interpretation, shape from shading, shape from texture, shape from stereo, shape from motion, and surface representation.
