A Guided Tour of Computer Vision

New Image

Vision is such an awesome experience that we allude to it time and again in our language. Seeing is believing. Leonardo da Vinci was a man of vision. Love is blind. We see eye-to-eye, and we foresee. We exchange views, and we maintain viewpoints. It is no surprise that the metaphors abound: Vision is without doubt the predominant mode of human perception. It is fast and accurate; it is reliable and nonintrusive; it simultaneously provides both detail and an overview. After all, it is a picture that is worth a thousand words: not a touch, a sound, a taste, or a smell.
