A High Speed Integrated Services Switch Based on 4x4 Switching Elements
01 January 1989
In recent years, considerable research had been conducted on the formulation and development of high-speed B-ISDN switch architectures which are capable of supporting a variety of applications [3], [4]. Most of the proposed switches use a self-routing, multistage interconnection network (MIN) which is constructed with 2 x 2 switching elements. An example is the Fast Packet/Fast Circuit (FPC) switch proposed in [2]. The switch employs n bit-parallel lines within the MIN to achieve low delay and high throughput for fast packet switching in the presence of circuit-switched traffic.
