A Hypertext Database to Facilitate User Interface Design (NOT PUBLISHED)

New Image

The process of designing the user interface for a computer system or application is a complicated series of inter-related decisions. Each decision successively narrows the design space until the designer specifies the design of the user interface that is actually built. In this paper, we describe the need for designers to capture and formally communicate their design decisions. We also describe a hypertext-based tool we have built to aid in this process, the User Interface Design Database (UIDD).
