A Look at Some Current Issues in Discrete Event Simulation.

Computer simulation is increasingly an essential element in the day-to-day information systems that support the activities of our complex, knowledge based society. Business decision makers routinely employ spread sheet models to investigate and compare investment alternatives. Simulation models provide the test beds in which the newly emerging intelligent automation technology (robot based flexible manufacturing, expert system supervised process control, etc.) is developed. Simulations analyze complex VSLI circuit designs not only for logical bugs but also for improper timing and unforeseen electronic level effects. The list of applications goes on without end.
