A Multi-mode PCM Transceiver Chip for 1.544 Mb/s Digital Telecommunications

A 1.25um CMOS VLSI device is described that converts the popular 1.544 Mbit/sec "T1" format to a 4.096 Mbit/sec "System" format. The transmit and receive functions are implemented with a RAM, a 3088 bit shift register and 33K transistors.
