A narrow band Si sub 3 N sub 4-SiO sub 2 resonant optical reflector.
01 January 1987
We have demonstrated for the first time a resonant optical reflector having a reflection resonance of less tha 2 angstroms wide. This reflection is formed in a waveguide weakly coupled side-by-side to a quarter wave shifted Bragg resonator. We also present an experimental and theoretical study of the transmission spectra of such a resonator. In all cases, the experimental spectra are in good agreement with calculations. This analysis is consistent with a resonator waveguide loss of about 1 db/cm.
