Several design proposals have been made earlier for congestion controls, end-to-end protocols, buffer sizing and other issues of data networks with high transmission rates and non-negligible, non-scalable propagation delays. These proposals originated in an asymptotic analysis where the large parameter is the transmission rate. In this paper we get exact numerical confirmation of the key underlying asymptotic results for certain realistic networks operating at 45 Mbps and 1.7 Gbps.
