A Packaged Spatial Mode Multiplexer Based on Free Space Optics

We present a transmission experiment employing three spatial modes through a few-mode fiber easily coupled to the surrounding single mode equipment by a packaged mode multiplexer. We evaluate the impact of the residual cross-talk in our system on different modulation schemes after 20km transmission.
