A Performance Study of Multi-carrier EV-DO Data Traffic Using Field Data and Simulations

The paper presents laboratory experimentation with a simulated field environment to evaluate Multi-Carrier EV-DO data traffic performances in a Radio Access Network (RAN). The performance of the EV-DO system in terms of call setup success rate (CSSR), call dropped connection rate (DCR), RF failure rate (RFFR) is investigated and the performance in terms of forward-link as well as reverse-link best-effort data throughput for an EV-DO system with Rev 'B' AT's is also addressed. These performance results are compared with field data and have been benchmarked through experimental studies to see the overall call performance stability of the Multi-Carrier EV-DO system.
