A Perspective on Changing Educational Needs of Engineers

I appreciate the opportunity to share my views on the important topic of engineering education. My own background is that of a statistician who has been involved in a variety of problems in statistical research and applications in industry. These remarks consider three topics. First are a few general comments that were solicited from the AT&T research and development community concerning engineering skills that we are looking for but have difficulty finding.
