A Photonic Switching Demonstration Display.

A switching demonstration display has been built to show the feasibility and potential use of guided-wave photonic switching. The display shows video images from four cameras being routed to four monitors by using a titanium-diffused lithium niobate photonic switch. The photonic switch uses 16 directional couplers, is non-blocking, and has sufficient signal-to-noise ratio to reproduce clear video images, regardless of the input-to-output connection. This display has run reliably for over eight months.
