A Proportional Hazards Model of Defect-Related SiO sub 2 Breakdown.
The proportional hazards (PH) energy is introduced as an energy term in the PH Arrhenius model. We extend a model of oxide breakdown by Shatzkes, Av-Ron and Gdula to gain some physical insights into the PH Arrhenius model. In the context of defect- related silicon dioxide breakdown, the PH energy can be interpreted as the energy required to produce defects at the metal-oxide interface of a metal-oxide-silicon capacitor.
