A Strictly Non-Blocking 16 x 16 Electrooptic Photonic Switch Module

We report the world's first electrooptic PI SNB 16x16 photonic switch module. The sub microsecond switching time device incorporates 480 1x2 switch elements and demonstrates a complexity sufficient to implement a 3 stage 272x272 optical crossconnect. The technology has broad optical bandwidth and a digital switching characteristic.
