Through most of the nearly 25 year history of Silicon integrated Circuits, various silicides have been employed for critical applications extending from ohmic contracts to Schottky barriers to poly-silicided gates and interconnects to SALICIDED source and drains, in devices that have ranged from early bipolar SSI's to today's ULSI circuits such as the Mbit DRAm.
