A Universal Receiver-End Coupling Matrix Estimation Method with Antenna On-Off

A novel receiver-end coupling matrix estimation (RCME) method is proposed, which exploits the characteristics of antenna arrays whose antenna elements are regularly distributed. In the RCME process, the antennas are divided into groups according to the antenna distribution, and each group is arranged to be switched on and off in a certain order. The RCME result is derived from a series of channel estimation results, which does not require extra known parameters except training sequences. This RCME method can be applied to various antenna arrays and is robust to scattering.
