A Wavelength-Tunable Single-Mode Fiber Grating Reflector.
01 January 1986
An optical fiber grating filter is demonstrated that has broad wavelength tuning capability for the back-reflected guided wave. A novel "fan"-shaped diffraction grating is used for this device in which the period varies continuously with position along its length. A 3dB reflection bandpass of 0.8nm that is tunable over a wavelength range from 1.46-1.54microns has been observed.
