This talk will discuss the role of reverse engineering in software development and, particularly, how it fits into CASE environments. Reverse engineering is the process of extracting, from the code of a software system, the system's design, architecture and/or specification. The current state of the art allows the extraction of design and architectural information but little specification. In this presentation, I will describe experience with building and using reverse engineering tools.
