Standardization of access protocols for the ISDN is the charter of many national and international bodies. The culmination point of all these standards is the CCITT I-series recommendations. Manufacturers of ISDN equipment like terminals, terminal adapters, network terminations and switching equipment are facing a multitude of national and/or manufacturer specific access protocols.
