The noise radiated by small axial cooling fans has become a common part of our acoustic environment. These types of fans are found in a wide variety of electronic systems used in the workplace and in the home. In many applications, the tonal components of the noise radiated by these air movers is the primary focus of user concern. These tones commonly rise 25-30 dB above the related broadband noise components.
