Active production networks -- An activation-based parsing model.

A parsing model is developed that uses bottom-up activation of rule instances in the presence of contextual expectations in an Active Production Network (APN). The model's distributed activation algorithm allows a high degree of parallelism. We define the APN model, present a formal interpretation of the activation semantics, and describe the model's application to syntactic recognition including agreement and movement.
