Adaptation to Difficult Designs: Facilitating Use of New Technology
12 August 1991
The interface between technology and people has long been the focus of human factors engineering. The past decade has been a high growth period for cognitive psychologists and computer scientists to collaborate on research and design for human-computer interaction. As advocates for the usability of technology, these researchers study ways to more effectively design the "front end" of what you and I see when we plug in, turn on, or make choices to use computers and computer-mediated tools.
