Adaptive Electronic Equalization Using Higher-Order Statistics For PMD Compensation in Long-Haul Fiber-Optic Systems

LMS is suboptimal for ASE-dominant systems but various dithering approaches suffer from slow adaptation rate without guarantee of convergence. We propose to apply higher-order algorithms in Least-Mean-Nth-Order family resulting in >2dB less in OSNR penalty.
