Aggregated Resource Allocation for Network Slicing

Abstract--- Network slicing has recently appeared as a key enabler for the future 5G network where Virtual Network Operator (VNO) creates various slices for Service Providers (SP) to accommodate customized services. As network slices are operated on a common network infrastructure owned by the Infrastructure Provider (InP), sharing the resources across a set of network slices is highly important for future deployment. In this paper, we analyze the business interaction between the different actors. Taken the InP perspective, we propose an optimization framework for resource allocation addressing multiple slices demand in terms of processing, storage and wireless capacity. The proposed solution is based on a linear programming (LP) problem formulation. We considered a practical use case of slices deployment over a mobile access network for two types of slices, one for the video streaming services, and one for the Internet of Things services. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework for network slice dimensioning.
