AI and Avionics - A Brief Introduction
02 June 1987
Since the inception of the aircraft as an effective platform for defense, there has been a constant search for machines that can intelligently aid the pilot in air combat. Recent advances in AI proving solving has ignited considerable interest in this area. This talk will address some of the potential applications of AI such as situational awareness, asset management, and in-flight fault detection/isolation/reconfiguration. We will discuss some of the real-world issues such as real-time autonomous processing, knowledge representation, evidential reasoning, and test/verification.
