All-optical processing in semi-insulating InP and GaAs using the photorefractive effect.
01 January 1984
The photorefractive effect (optically induced index changes) has been extensively studied in electro-optic insulators because of its potential for all optical processing i.e. Matrix algebra, convolution, correlation, image amplification, phase conjugate resonators and holographic interferometry. We report for the first time observation of the photorefractive effect in semi- insulating GaAs:Cr and InP:Fe, by four-wave mixing.
