All-optical wavelength conversion and regeneration

This paper reviews opportunities and challenges of all-optical devices for transparent networks. Trends and latest all-optical regeneration and wavelength conversion techniques are discussed with an emphasis on devices exploiting semiconductor optical amplifier nonlinearities.
