Alternative trunking for telephone traffic in a multi-office area
14 October 1931
The paper describes a method of trunking medium-size groups which are too large to be tandemed and too small to take advantage of large capacity switches. The method is based on the principle of deliberately providing insufficient direct outgoing trunks, so that the overflow traffic is carried economically by an alternative route through a tandem centre. Examples are given of the economies realised by the method described.
