An active-node-assisted method for power saving in optical access network

We propose a kind of assisting control node in optical access network, which can reduce the power consumption of ONUs by a electro-optic switch in remote node. The power consumption of the whole network can be reduced by nearly 50% when the amount of data receiving dependant power is up to 70% of that in ONU receiver of conventional PON.
