An Animation Device Driver for S
01 January 1989
We provide a simple to use mechanism to animate statistical graphs in a common and widespread computing environment (UNIX(R)). Our starting point consists of two existing software systems. The S system (Becker, Chambers, and Wilks, 1988) is a large and mature environment for statistical computing with facilities for data management, numerical algorithms, and graphics. The Algorithm Animation System (Bentley and Kernighan, 1986) is a fairly portable and nearly device-independent system for algorithm animation.
