An Approach for Efficient Access Security Updated for PANs and Personal Networks
01 January 2005
Future communications will allow more and more communications by groups of people. Group communication needs particular design that may often differ from classical individual connectivity due to networks' limited resources and optimization constraints. This paper introduces the novel concept of "group security access," which is an efficient mechanism to reduce signaling and transmission overhead, hence to enhance the communication efficiency in a Personal Area Network (PAN) and Personal Network (PN)-like environment that is typically characterized by the presence of heterogeneous devices with different and often opposite processing powers. The group security access concept supports the functioning of the light weight AAA infrastructures, light weight key exchange infrastructures and AAA for mobile networks, all required by Personal Networks.
